Frequently Asked Questions about EMREL

What is EMREL?

EMREL is an online library. We want to put all our content there. Lectures (video, powerpoint), impromptu presentations, interesting journal articles, links, shareware software, tips, discussions. We want it to all be easily retrievable, even once the creator has forgotten about it.

Wait, putting files on the web is hard, isn't it? Surely mere mortals couldn't do such a thing.

Well, we have done as much as possible to make this easy and straightforward. Can you attach a file to an email message? Can you click on a link? Then you too can CONTRIBUTE to EMREL! If you can't, we'll show you how. You will win friends, influence people, get rich, and become famous.

Well, I will just find someone else to put it up for me?

See, it can't work like that. We want everyone to contribute, and we could never hire all the staff needed to do it for you. It is EASY, it is QUICK, and it is EFFECTIVE.

Who are the EMREL Members?

All of the residents and staff. Some of the office staff. The PA's are there. Soon, we will bring alumni into the mix. We want a rich and diverse group of people to help contribute to everyone's education.

Now this sounds like something. Where can I find out more?

Well, first - login and play around. Peek here and peek there. Click on things. I don't think you can hurt it, and if you think you did, just drop me a line. In the future, we may have video, audio, and other types of presentations to help you along. Remember, the Help screen is always one click away.

Now, you've convinced me. What can I do to really make this work?

  1. Check EMREL frequently - you'll note that everytime you login, new publications are displayed for you. This will help you keep up on what is new and interesting.
  2. If you see something that you don't agree with, or want to call attention to - look for the Add Comment. Please make your voice heard, and help others learn.
  3. When you add a file, make sure that you set a keyword, and fill out the description with a short blurb. This way, the search tools are much more effective, and will work better for you in the future.
  4. Consider becoming a content manager. If you want to help collect things like interesting links, palm software, interesting books, contact me. I will set you up with a folder and show you how to manage it.
  5. Be patient - obviously this is a work in process. If you have troubles, or think you see something that ain't right - contact me
